color country english. Anyone hunting em?

Post by Marshall »

I'm looking at getting a pup and i was wondering if anybody has hunted or ben around these dogs much that can give me a little info on them. It will be my second pup as the first one is not turning out and I really dont want the same thing to happen to where it doesent have hardly any drive or the killer instinct or even treeing capability and these are the problems i have now, so a little info would really help me out. they are swamp rooster and lightfoot cross. thanks!!

I have not hunted any of their stuff but I have hunted Swamp Rooster and Lightfoot and neither one of them lack drive.
Rooster dogs I have hunted with are nice tree dogs and the Lightfoot dogs I have hunted with suck on the tree. That is not to say all are this way but I would think that cross would at the very least produce drive.
Good luck with your next one and keep us posted

thanks for the info keep it all coming, I would like to know as much as i can about them. I'm new to the hound game and man is it a blast!!! most of the dogs around here are cameron and those dogs are the real deal thats for sure, I will be getting a pup or two of them as well but I want to see what else is out there and what other breeds have to offer. I don't know if these camerons around here are just special or if they are all that way. I have heard good things about the english breed and want to see how they compare to these crazy cascade blues and if these english are half the dog that these blues are then i will be extatic!! thanks again

Well,
Are you talking about the Color Country English in southern Utah? There are a few (at least 2 or 3 that I know of) Color Country English people. If you are talking about Josh and Matt I have hunted some of their stuff, and you couldn't buy the little red dog back that I got from them. Nose, brains and she is almost wound up too tight. She turns inside out on a cat.. I would like a couple more just like her.. KattSkratch

No, i'm talking about john A bests dogs out of nevada. he has a web site under the kennels/breeders link up on top of this page, its the big game bred color country english link on the right of the page. and thats all i know about the dogs. i'm sure there good dogs but i would just like to know a little about them besides pictures like how they handle and how there nose is, do they run with thier heads up drifting the track or are there heads down, do they pull hair or stand back and bay from 20 ft. and i'm sure all the dogs are not the same or you would never find the "one" i'm just looking for what the consistancy is for the breed. thank you
