Re: plott walker crosses
Hello, I just happen to be reading through and saw this post. I got a dog last year that is a plott walker cross. The walker side is supposedly from Topper Again but theres nothing to back that up other than someone saying it and the dam was a plott here in northern NM. She was never really hunted b...

Collars not updating
Anyone having any issues while hunting the collars arent updating as they should? I have them set to 5 and some 30 seconds. I can have the dogs and then drive away from the spot and it wont update them for a super long time. Its bad when I do lose communication, it wont update when I get closer to t...

Re: NEW MEXICO HOUNDMENS
I'm also for a spring time hunt. I would really love a pursuit season too but I don't think that is on the table right? Especially a spring hunt in those areas where depredation is more prevalent because in some of those areas the season closes before we can even get dogs in the woods. You can shoot...

Knot on top of head
I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this or if I should be concerned. When I got back from out of town, my 12 week old puppy at the time had a knot on top of her head. It wasnt really soft or too hard but it didnt hurt her at all. It got a little bigger and then started to go down. It has...

Im not sure if he visits this site but if you go to the ukcdogs.com website under the message forum there is a guy that is big into keeping those lines going. Goes by the name of Kenbev I believe. I would look into talking with him. Hope this helps.

Re: Off range Oryx hunt in NM
Thanks to all. The hunt is coming up quick and Ive gotten some good tips from you folks. Mike, Ill get a map for that area too and keep more options open. I hope we get lucky and find a couple. I got me a rifle just for Oryx when I got drawn for the returning Iraq veterans hunt and shot it at 425 ya...

Re: Off range Oryx hunt in NM
The hunt lasts the whole month of July so plenty of weekends to look around. So I guess just drive the roads and hike up on hills and glass? Ive seen em cross over there just east of Bingham so I should be able to find one huh? That sounds promising. I sure hope so, my freezer is awfully low! Is the...

Off range Oryx hunt in NM
I got drawn for the off range hunt this year. Has anyone been seeing any animals and where? I was planning on heading south of Bingham towards the missile range. Anybody got any good input for me?

Re: coon hunting vs big game hunting ?
I agree with houndnem. When lion season ends here you can still hunt coon. Keeps em in shape, keeps em on game. Catch one in the water, keeps em acting gritty lol. I also agree that you dont want them treeing coon while running bear. I know a lot of people start them on coon and then switch mostly t...

bear pursuit in Utah
I was working on setting up a pursuit only hunt in Utah for a few days. I was gonna go with a guy up there but I have no idea where to go? Anyone willing to offer up some pointers on what direction to head? I would like to stay as far south as possible, La Sal? Not looking for a good hunting spot ju...

I can give references or pics on the female if necessary. Shes a pretty girl, nice ears good size. Very high pitched chop on tree. Gamey little female. Good luck on your pups Stephen, I cant wait to see what they come out like.

Re: cameron slow to start
We all want early starting pups but they are all different. I think the others are right in that he's only ten months and sounds like he's doing ok. I'm far from being able to give good advice but I have a cameron much older than yours that has been running tracks with the older dogs since 5 months ...
