Re: black cats
I found something that may interest you guys on this subject. In the July, 1959 Full Cry Magazine there is a picture of a black "panther, cougar , etc" not sure what they were claiming it as. This cat was killed in the Ozark Mountains by a Matt Todd from Houston, Missouri. They article claims he has ...

Re: Offer to Utah Houndsmen.
Well I've never hunted in Utah nor do I claim to know about your populations on the deer or cougar but it is obvious as an outsider looking in what has happened here. I've never heard of this radio show and from the looks of it nor has half the people posting on here. But after a 5 page thread ...

Re: Alberta Lion Changes
Brent, you remember the last meeting in Rocky? No matter what was said their back was against the wall and their minds were made up before the meeting was held. I don't think for one moment they took any of our info down and applied it to their new plan. We had a good thing for a few years but ...

Don't mind me asking but what are your intentions with the cross? Are you looking more for a dog for chasing or treeing?

Re: Greyhound mixes
I use to run them years ago and found you are better to run a 2/3 coonhound to 1/3 greyhound. And your culling is still going to be high. You may be better off finding someone with a fast line of coonhounds. I'm sure there has been lots of us trying to reinvent the wheel and end up going to the ...

Re: Hunting pads off ?
I know of an old fellow up here who use to own a greyhound track. He would mix boiled barley chop in his dog food to help harden his dogs feet. I started doing the same around 12 years ago and found that it made a difference. They still will get cut up and sore a bit, ecspecially in the counrty you ...

Re: Hounding badgers?
I agree with you there. We have been so close to getting new seasons here but at the same time could'nt be further away from it. It's frustrating leaving the house doing something you love and have these people try to make us feel guilty for it. But all we can do is keep our head up high and never ...

Re: Hounding badgers?
You guys are exactly right about the pictures. It does do any good at all to show dogs killing game. I dont even like it when hunters drive around with their killed game in view of the public. All that does is give fuel to the anti's. What I would like to see is pictures of your terriers. I enjoiy ...

Re: Hounding badgers?
BLUE : " I would forfit all other hunting if I could run my hounds year round " Blue that statement alone is what the ANTI- BASTARDS want . DIVIDE and CONQUER . Don't give them what they want . Look around at other states and Provinces to see already what they have done . If you were the only Hound ...

Re: Hounding badgers?
Yeah, those two never did any justice to the sport that's for sure. I live in Alberta and was living here at the time that happened. It took less than a week from the time that hit the air to the time we were shut down on coyote hunting with hounds. But with that being said it did'nt take long for ...

Re: wont lock in and tree
Well may be a little late, but I had a problem like this 10 years ago. My one bluetick just had way too much energy to burn and wanted to run track all the time, ecspecially on lion. So every morning before I hunted him I would kick him out and road him for 5 miles and run the stupid out of him ...

Re: BACK TO THE SUBJECT ON CUTTING LION TRACKS AT NIGHT
First of all, starting off as a coon hunter I think its a dumb law. But, it is the law in some states so stay on the right side. Second, the early bird gets the worm. Stop crying. At least the guys were waiting until legal light and not turning loose on all the game while you are trying to be legal ...

Re: Hounding badgers?
Seeing that you are from the U.K you should be able to find literture on this dog. Look up Mildeton's Toby.
Some interesting reading there. Plus the badgers in the U.K are nothing close to the ones in North America.
If you start reading on the comparrisons it's like comparing pitbulls to poodles ...

Re: Favorite lion hound
I find when it comes to hunting being colourblind can be your worst enemy. I run 5 different breeds and they all bring something unique with them to the tree. As long as they work they could be pink for all I care and I'll still use them.
