Re: strikes you can't start....
Ditto to JC! Other than I don't leave them loose on the rig. I like to confirm a track before I put my dogs down. Helps to make sure they are running it the right way.

Re: Cat populations
Great post Dewey. The bobcat forum has become interesting again.
Rabbits rabbits rabbits! If we have a couple bad years of a rabbit population, I usually will notice a low in the kitten sightings, as well as the bigger toms moving to the lower elevations. This last year Ive noticed more dog boxes ...

Re: Collar Cameras?
Midland XTC 300's work great. Smaller than Go Pro's and are 1080 as well. They come with several different mounts. Adapt to a collar well. Makes for good videos.

Just bought meadow grass for 17.75 a bail. Last year at this time it was 13.00. Dogs will be eating good soon!

Re: over running the track
I am usually right with them on the track. (if I can keep up)! He is just wound up unless I run him a bit. The good thing is, is that he doesn't open much so he doesn't pull my other dogs off with him.
Good post!

Re: over running the track
I have a dog that I have to lightly shock every now and then for overrunning a track. If I don't road him for a few miles before I cut a track, I will have to slow him down with Tri Tronics for sure. It works for me. He seems to know exactly what I mean when I push that button.

Re: 2011 California total
I think guys are running for numbers (bragging rights) and only killing if they have a client or a friend wanting to kill one. I dont know about you but to me it seemed like there were a ton of bears around this year.
Good question!!!

Re: gettin a hound to not backtrack
Walking a dog out is the answer usually but when they get away from ya and start running it backwards and you can't get them to come back, I will use my Tri Tronics! They learn real quick to come back, then I encourage them to go the right way. I only have to tone them now, because they were trained ...

I use MSR evo's. The cheaper ones. Around 100 bucks. They work good for me.
