I have a redbone mtn. cur cross that so far handles real well, and LOVES trailing a coon. He can follow a drag over a mile. Re: 11 month old pup wont bark on caged coon
I agree that he is smart. Whenever I say something, I try to make sure that what I want is obvious. And that is one of the reasons he generally picks up on new commands so easily. Here is the strange thing to me. (I could very easily be behaving like the over reactive 15 year old kid that I am) But ...

11 month old pup wont bark on caged coon
I my 11 month old redbone cur mix pup a caged coon, he did not bark at all! I poured a cup of water on the coon and let him run and climb a tree. I turned my dog loose and he trailed him perfectly,(though silent on track). He got to a tree and put his paws on it for like 5-10 seconds then walked ...

Re: bobcat training scent
Okay, thanks. I just dont see how my dog would follow a dry coon pelt trail, when he doesnt have a whole lot of drive towards a caged coon in the first place, I am going to order walk with wick here soon, then i will not have to pester people on here, thank you for your time!

Re: bobcat training scent
Why is it that most training scent companies use urine? Is it cheaper? How would it even help the dog learn the smell? You had a good point about the neighbor kid test! haha

Re: bobcat training scent
twist: Don't waist your money on any! Might as well drag around your wifes dish towel. Andy
I dont understand, how does a dish towel get the scent in a young hounds mind? I realize that most commercial grade training scents are made up of either synthetic or authentic urine combinations, which ...

Re: Coonhounds dont always turn out?
Thank you. I really did wonder how it was possible for all hounds to turn out?! It makes much more sense that it has to be in their blood along with in their training.
