Re: Lion coyote kill

Sounds like when they do it they are pretty damn hungry cause there's not much left.
This one appears typical, just skin and a skull left.
He was ambushed by a Tom while trotting up the road.

Re: Tying your horse

Realize this is about tying and good advice here on that.
If there's grass I hobble and put an extra Astro collar (if I have one) on one horse.
Just use another normal collar added to the astro or attach to your saddle horn.
Reason I do this is grass is scarce where I hunt so I can save on packing ...

WOW That's unbelievable.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, hunting is not a spectator sport.

Re: Hounding badgers?

I'd posted this a while back on another board but I don't think I'm repeating myself by posting it here.

"We were walking out of an alpine basin where we had done a bridge site survey and I was ahead of my partner who is not a dog guy or hunter. I was at the truck and he was back a ways when he ...

Here's how I use em http://s677.photobucket.com/albums/vv13 ... 6-2010.mp4

I find them much better in the winter than in the heat though because of their coat.

Re: Garmin Garmin Garmin

If I'm hunting and loose signal to my hand held can I download my collar to the computer and show the track they took while I didn't have reception?

No.
The handheld stores all the data so if it's not getting the collar info you can't download it. Same goes if you power off the handheld, you ...

Re: dog video camers

I bought an ATC3K this spring and tried it on bear. Never did get any decent footage. Tried a collar mount under the chin and it swung around too much. Then I tried a mount under the chest on a harness. It worked better but still too much motion. Couple problems are is it only stays on for 20 mins ...

Re: book

"Trail Riding , Packing and Training" by Stan Walchuk is really informative
but his "Cordillera" is just a great read.
They can both be found here http://www.bcoutfitter.com/

Re: lost some pups last night

That's a shame.
My wife had to throw a lawn chair at a bear that had come at a female of mine with a litter. She and the female managed to run it off till she got the pups in the house but it came back and got the dog food.
That squeaking of small pups works better then any predator call and I ...

Re: Snowmobiles and Trailers

I use am otter ice fishing toboggan. It's too narrow so I needed to add outriggers to keep it from tipping.
My next rig will be an aluminum platform large enough to carry 2 large plastic kennels with downhill skis as runners.
