Re: Lion Hound Trainer Advice
I know of one guy that sent 2 young dogs away for training and when he got them back they were very thin and one ended up dying within a week. Guess that guy didn't feed them too well... Anyhow what part of AZ do you hunt?

Re: Lion Killing Ranchers!!!!
Well said Chris, IF this is true then report it to G&F. If a rancher wants to kill a few lions the tags are over the counter and seems like it would be easy to find enough hunters... just ask their friends and family to buy a tag and join them for a few trail rides then its all legal.

Re: !!! The Ultimate Bobcat Dog: Part 2.0 !!!
Well 3 of those red dogs are little pups just learning whats what! There are plenty of spots to hunt that are away from people, there are also spots where happy hikers pop up around every corner with their fat muts in tow... My area is starting to get like that, I just hunt early morning and ...

Re: !!! The Ultimate Bobcat Dog: Part 2.0 !!!
I live in southern AZ and there are good bobcats here. up in the mtns the fur is decent and they have good spots. I don't hunt only bobcats though, lots of grey fox so I hunt those too. And mtn lion of corse. I don't travel much just hunt from home, keeps it affordable ;) AZ does have a long season ...

Re: Pups that come from a dam that died from retained Placenta
Age is less the factor then health. However for the pup your considering. The male didnt vanish. So get the buyers name and contact them. See if the dog is really what it was advertised as and the new owner is satisfied. You may even arrange to see it. This will give you more to go on. I would ...

Re: Feeding
My guys are around 50lbs and get 5-6 cups of 30protien 20 fat a day 1/2 in morning after the morning hunt and 1/2 in evening about an hour before dark. If I try and cut back they show even more ribs, they have lots of energy but no fat on them... so I hope they don't get lost cause they have no ...

Re: Question regarding bobcat hunt ????
They might not be treeing close enough to the tree. Another reason that its jumping out could be you make too much noise getting into the tree and the critter has been run a lot, try sneaking in to the tree. Keep trying! I hope you see the next critter they tree.

Re: Hunting Speed?
TRacking speed on mine seems to be about 5 miles an hour. Got to stay up with them though because once its jumped they go much faster and can be 1-2 miles away in under 10 minutes. I hunt in some steep terrain and its hard to keep up with the dogs unless I make guesses and cut across to shorten the ...

Re: Given up on Facebook
I am on FB some but in addition to the BS, it seems harder to find stuff on it the posts are all in the same area and its not as easy to look for posts that I am interested in. Forums are just easier to navigate and also easier to find and read older posts.

Re: No Scent and Back Trailing
I trust my dogs to follow in the right direction too. I have 2nd guess it a few times and tried to turn them around and had it not work out at all. Story from last year: Was out looking for lions in one of the few snow storms with a good buddy and he found a track so I left off the track I had found ...

Re: No Scent and Back Trailing
Just need better dogs! hehe ;) Scent can burn off fast in hot dry weather... so maybe the area they could smell it was cooler later into the day? I know going up the exposed south facing slopes dogs can loose the scent but I will keep going in that direction and once we cross over to the other side ...

Re: Have a question for you experienced fox hunters
What is the history of Dingos? I know they are wild dogs but was under the impression that they were brought in ages ago by the ancestors of the aboriginal people. And then went feral.

Re: ear wounds/ tore ear
Depends on the location and the state of my wallet.
If its not life threating and you are short on funds and time or the dog will not sit still, just trim it up and let it heal on its own. Spray with some good wound dressing every day. Cheapest stuff are those made for horses works fine on dogs ...
