Re: New from Utah

Welcome back to the sport. I'm in Tooele also. Few cats still around here, but way more lion hunters than cats. Bighorn sheep boys have made sure the stansburys are wiped out, which puts more pressure on the oquirrhs. Shoot me a pm and lets talk

Re: double Decker box?

I have built two of them. The first one was for a buddy. It is the width of the bed and about 18 inches deep. His has doors to both the top and bottom, accessible from the inside of the bed. Mine is the same dimention but my doors are on the bed side of the upper level. I have doors on both sides ...

Re: Anyone else have a crappy winter?

Its been a super crappy winter for me. In early December I took the dogs out by myself into an area you have to hike or go horseback in, treed a nice Tom, fell and dis-located my arm from my shoulder. Luckly had cell service and called my bro and wife to come get me. Spent 4 hours in the ER getting ...

Re: Houndsmen Of Utah

Silent night, I've encountered the same problem. I've been running hounds for 9 years, learned from some good old timers that won't run anymore because of all the BS. I'm a member of the association, and never hear a thing. I love to hunt by myself and avoid the crowed BS, yet love to hear what ...

Re: Lion hunting in the snow on horses

My horse and mule get used more this time of year than any other. I'd rather hunt off of them than a sled any day. It's slow and you can't hit as many canyons to look for a track, but you can get into country that most guys can't or won't.

Re: ???How many???

I hunt with friends and family... been on chases with alot of dogs. Most of the funnest hunts have been is just me and one or two dogs. I had a run last winter where I had my ol female tree all day by herself. I had another run where my old male and a young pup held a young tom in a tree over night ...

Re: MULTIPLE DOG TIE OUT LINE???

I tie mine on a highline just as the horses. Just lower to the ground. Works very well. They have freedom to move, yet don't get tangled up. If a highline is horse proof, then its anything proof.LOL

Re: Affording hounds

I own 6 dogs. I work for a local golf course full time as the asst superintendent. I keep my dogs at the course. Since I'm on salary I get paid for the winter and don't have to work when the course is covered in snow. My schedule is very flexible as long as I stay on top of my work. During the ...

Re: Best Age to Work Pups

I have a 8 month old pup thats been on 3 lions this year. The last one she treed overnight for 17 hours with one of my older males till I got there. Thats a huge accomplishment in my camp for a pup. She has really turned the corner and I think shes gonna make a good dog.

Re: UTAH'S future

I get sick tired of other guys in other hunting forums preaching every time they see a cat track they assume its a monster tom and want to kill it. Our deer herds are hurting, yet everyone thinks the lions are flourishing. The herds have a direct correlation with the lion population also the problem ...
