Re: Lion Killing Ranchers!!!!
I'd curs. You are talking about country that is basically my backyard. Over the past 10-years I have caught more than my share of lions in this country. Most of them have stayed in the tree. Which doesn't make some of the locals happy. I haven't found but one dead lion in all that time. It was a ...

Re: Given up on Facebook
I first joined FB at the request of a ex girlfriend a few years ago. Now I have about 1000 friends. I try to keep my self out of the B.S. as much as I can. Any more I try my best to stick to posting just lion trailing videos. And trying to point out lion habits in video. Like I did recently showing ...

Re: Little Blue, gone but not forgotten
Sorry to hear about Little Blue Mike. I have a lot of the same blood as Little Blue in my pack. It seems that every time I think I need to try something different. They prove me wrong.
I was trailing a female lion the other day. Temperature started out cool. But by 9 it was already pushing 80. I ...

Re: New admiration for mountain lions.
Thanks for the complements guys. I have trailed lions in the snow and seen where they had pulled a back track trick or two. But this is the first lion I have seen actually do it.

Re: New admiration for mountain lions.
It's hard losing the good ones. Scout did more for me than I could ever mention. Someday we will meet again. Where the lion hunt never ends.

New admiration for mountain lions.
Every now and then something will happen that will give me even more admiration for mountain lions. Yesterday was one of those times. The day before I had trailed a young Tom. The wind was so bad that I finally had to give up. So yesterday I went back. The weather man said the wind was going to ...

Re: TOM LIONS NOT SCRAPING,WHAT'S UP?
This was a question that I thought a lot about this winter and am still trying to learn about as winter is pretty much over here. When the question was first asked I had several toms around me. And they all seemed to be heavy scrappers, marking their territories at will. Over the winter several of ...

Love the quote Brett. That about sums it up. I can't abide by a quitter. Both in hounds and people . Their a dime a dozen.

Re: Dry Ground Dog Characteristics
The main thing a person finds out when trying to make a pack of lion hounds is that it takes time lots of time. I have hunted with just this past year several good lion hound packs. And the one thing that stands out in all of them. Is that they get hunted a lot. To try to answer what I like to see ...

Re: lions fighting hounds at the tree.
In the area I am hunting there are no wolf's. Thank God. But that is an interesting theory. The last lion I described didn't have a kill either. The only other lion I have treed that jumped down looking for a fight. Is a different type deal. And might lend some credibility to the wolf theory. Me and ...

lions fighting hounds at the tree.
Was wondering if any other hunters had seen this kind of behavior out of lions. In forty years of chasing lions I have only seen a lion act this way twice. Both times it was young toms. I have seen lions jump and get caught on the ground trying to run . Then the fight starts. But only twice have I ...

Post Script to how far will a lion travel in one night.
I knew I would get another chance at the Tom I was trailing in my original post. It was just a matter of time. Molly sounded off good and early in the morning. It started out fast and stayed a fast race for about 4-hours. But with no water ...

How far will a lion travel in one night.
How far will a lion travel in one night. That is a question that will probably never be answered. But for three days this past week me and my hounds tried to answer it.
Day one we were out before the sun. I was headed for a good crossing I knew of. It was getting up to 80 every day. And I knew if ...

Re: Frustrating day
Don't give up on those young hounds just yet. Mike touched on some real important facts about trailing females especially on dry ground. They can be tough. In my experience they just don't leave as much scent as toms. Alot of people will say that makes sense because of the size difference. And maybe ...

Re: Breaking off of bears
We are lucky here in Arizona to have alot of good lion country with few or no bears. I have friends here in AZ that claim their hounds are 100 percent bear broke. But if you look at the country they hunt. And the way they hunt. You can see that their hounds have very limited opportunity to run bear ...
