Arizona or New Mexico? Bear hunting.

I’m wanting to take a trip to either Arizona or New Mexico this fall and harvest a bear. I’ve got the dog power but I don’t know the country in either state and don’t want to take a week off work and buy a tag and drive across the country and have trouble getting on bears. I went to New Mexico a ...

Red dirt Dan, in West Virginia?

Does anyone know the owner of a Walker dog named Red Dirt Dan in West Virginia? I hear about him through the grapevine. He’s a very close relative to my hounds and I’d like to talk to whoever owns I him.
Thanks!

Looking for info on late season New Mexico bear hunting

Hey there!

A friend and I are thinking about making a trip to New Mexico between now and the close of season to bear hunt for a week or a couple days. But if we go, we would be going blind since we’ve never hunted the area before. We were thinking about going up north or East of Cuba, but we’d go ...

Re: Bear transmits infection to dog?

Mass showed to be a drainage area from a bad infection of unknown cause. They put him on more and stronger doses of antibiotics and they want to do blood tests about every two weeks to make sure it’s working. This is good news, he said there’s a good chance he will recover. Vet says there’s no way ...

Re: Bear transmits infection to dog?

Could the dog of possibly heat stroked?

Hey mark, I don’t think that’s the issue. It had rained the night before and everything was soaked and it was decently cool that day. I remember walking through some brush that day and I had to change all my cloths when I got back to the truck because all ...

Re: Bear transmits infection to dog?

Hey Goose, you think it was trichenellosis?

That’s one of those million dollar questions, that was over 10 years ago, and at a time when this certain section of swamp was so overrun with hogs that they were starving and as with anything whenever there is an over abundance of population, all sorts ...

Re: Bear transmits infection to dog?

I just got the results today. OSU’s equipment covers 18 more diseases then the local vet could. (The vet I took him to this time is a pretty nice/pricey vet.) So far all tests have come back negative. Not a tick disease, or a fungal disease, or a bacterial infection, not heartworm, had his liver and ...

Re: Bear transmits infection to dog?

Hey, thanks for all the replies. They sent the blood off to OSU to have it checked on a wider range of sicknesses. As far as the vet can tell with his equipment, it’s not a tick disease, (erlichia, lymes, or rockie mountain spotted fever, but maybe the lab will tell something different) vet says he ...

Bear transmits infection to dog?

Has anybody ever had a dog get sick from contact with a bear? Back in the summer, I had 2 dogs walk and bay a bear all day. The one dog came down with some sort of sickness the next week and hasn’t been right in about 6 months. He keeps getting run down, and I take him to the vet, and his white ...

Anyone know any gator hunters?

Hey there, I live in Oklahoma and my buddy is stationed in fort Polk Louisiana. We have been wanting to go on a gator hunt down in Louisiana somewhere but haven’t had any luck finding someone to take us who wouldn’t break the bank. Anybody know any gator hunters or have any leads that I could call ...

Re: how do i get some weight on my dog?

How old is your dog? I think allot of times we do need to put some weight on them but also sometimes it's good to remember some dogs are just thin and you probably won't be able to till they get older. Their metabolisms are high and like little kids they are just skinny. That doesn't mean they aren ...

Re: How long do your dogs live?

Mark, why don't you think we could improve on it? On one side of my family they drink, and smoke, and cause trouble and do dangerous things their whole lives, and the parents lived into their 90s and so did all the kids. (My great aunts and uncles) My grandpa is 78 and still works 8-10 hour days in ...

Re: How long do your dogs live?

Chris, That's cool stuff. I know guys who think the size of the hound dictates toughness, seems to me the size of the heart is much more important. I have never hunted that southern desert country, but I sure would like to in the future.

Mike, Thanks, I know I plan to do it. Id like to get some ...
