Freeze Brandng
Freeze Brandng
I am looking for any information on freeze branding. I do not know anything about it, how it is done etc. It is something I would like to consider doing. Any info would be great.
Re: Freeze Brandng
NM just figured out how to search topics on here. Seems to be plenty of info to sift through.

You can also go to the LH brands site and they have a step by step method with either dry ice or liquid nitrogen.

Re: Freeze Brandng
Spray the area with 99.9% alchohol and then use liquid nitrogen and wait till your front is starting to frost up the branding handle, then when ready place brand firmly into the hide for 8 seconds.
We use this method on all our registered angus and sale bulls we go 20-25 seconds on cattle.
P.S. Soak the area you are going to brand VERY WELL with the Alchohol.
Hope this helps!!!!!

Re: Freeze Brandng
8 seconds does not seem long enough? Do you clip or shave the area to be branded?
Re: Freeze Brandng
I use an electric trimmer to buzz the area first. With nitrogen 8 seconds plenty dry ice is more like 15-20

Re: Freeze Brandng
8 seconds may be good with a good iron but using stainless takes longer 12-15 also depends on how much metal you have if you have a not so thick metal need to keep on longer and make sure you shave a deeper brass will not need to stay as long my thin stainless needs 15 seconds with nitrogen
