Hi Bryan,
First, this isn't a UKC event, so both registered and non-registered dogs can enter.
Second, in a money hunt everything is handled like it were a UKC event, but the dogs do not have to be registered and part of the money goes back to the highest cast winner.
I do not know what the pay out is, but lets use 60/40 with a $10 entry.
The entry is $10 each, 12 dogs enter= $120 collected.
The club keeps 60% ($72) leaving 40% ($48) to be paid out.
With 12 dogs, there would be three casts (casts have up to 4 dogs in them)
If all three casts come back with plus points, then that $48 would be divided $24 (50%) to highest, $14.40 (30%) next, and $9.60 (20%) to the last one.
For the actual hunting part, you are competing against the other dogs in your cast to score the most points by having the most accurate dog and knowing what he's doing. You earn points when your dogs strikes or trees and you call him correctly. The points are awarded: 100 1st dog to open, 75, 50, 25 for the next ones. 125 1st dog to tree, 75, 50, 25 next dogs. If the dog quits trailing or treeing, or runs after off game, his points are minused. If you can't find the coon in the tree after they've treed (for 5 minutes or when all dogs are at the tree) then the points are circled. There is a score card to keep track while you are out there. Before you leave to hunt, a time to be back is agreed upon and each cast has to hunt 2 hrs.
These are the bare bones rules, full rules are available at the UKC site:
http://www.ukcdogs.com/WebSite.nsf/Rule ... 10OFFICIALI hope this answered your question. We never set a hunt deadline for this one, it was rather assumed everyone would come at 3pm for the festivities

and then we'd head out early as possible after eating.
Look forward to meeting you, Bryan. Bet we've meet in the melee of December. Sanctioned (hound council or UKC) events are chaotic for those trying to pull them off. This one will be more laid back....that's our plan anyway!
