Re: MONTANA SPORTMEN FOR FISH AND WILDLIFE

The SFW has a strong interest in hounding, bears and lions. I don't care if it's Montana, Utah or what state.

Their interest is to see as many bears and lions die as possible, and to have hounds on the mountain as little as possible. Anything they say to the contrary, you are being lied to!

If ...

Re: UDWR 2012-2014 RECS

It's not looking good for dog guys in this state, that's for sure. The SFW has hijacked the DWR and the SFW views lions and bears the same way they view wolves. They are interested in dead predators and no dogs on the mountain.

And the DWR is just way over matched. The deer herd is gone and they ...

Hey Shorty,

My buddy is down there... his kid is in the Goat Tying, Team Roping and Break Away roping. The kid is named Shad Winn.

His dad is my buddy, and he's even an ex-bull rider. Give them a call and you can hang out with them, grab a bite to eat and he can tell you first hand of my ...

Re: Utah Houndsmen Assn pics!!

Black Eye,

I have a couple of pictures I'd like to contribute. Two photos I took last winter of a couple of GIANT toms.

The legendary ghost Tom we call 'Ol 6 Toes...

And then the most giant tom track I've ever cut. We tried to trail this lion with the dogs but the crafty old bastard took us off ...

Re: "Roughin it outdoors" round 2 bear runnin UTAH

I thought it turned out good Black Eye! For all the negative ways hound guys are sometimes portrayed, I thought Adam did a great job and represented you hillbillies well.

Kev, I'm a bit bummed out because when I showed up I was told it was all over and he was gone home. Then we bumped into Black ...

Re: Recent gathering of mountain lion experts and most agree

Mike,

Just a comment about one line that caught my attention:

"Biologists were being shut out of the decision process and all those high-minded management plans were based on emotion and the outdated premise that cougar populations need to be reduced. One even came right out and admitted that the ...

Re: Decline of the bluetick hound.

Bear dogs? Ha! Ha! this is an old post. Sam was a blue dog but I don't know if you would have called him a BLUETICK?

That picture was a couple of Tony's dogs. And you are right, my blue dogs were kind of a mixed up bunch, half red anyway and some of the littermates were solid red.

So I doubt ...

Re: lion radio show hot topic

This seems like as good a place as any to put this photo I just took.

Stopped at a gas station this morning in Springville, Utah and took this picture with my phone as I was walking out to my truck. Trailer is full of dead deer, road kill pick-ups I would guess. A company truck, probably ...

Re: Decline of the bluetick hound.

Miguel,

What's up with this talk about the "decline of the bluetick hound"...? I guess my buddy didn't get the Memo... because his pack of blue dogs has seen a helluva lot more bears than anybody else around here!! They can decline after this weekend if they want, but they better be showing us a ...

Re: lion radio show hot topic

Unfortunately I'll be in a gym all day watching my girls in a Dance competition but I'm sure I'll miss a good time!

And if you have changed your stance on lions since the Monster Muleys days then good for you. But I know how you felt about them back then, and no doubt Kevin hasn't forgotten either ...

Re: Noteworthy Biggame Houndsmen

Casey,

I think Kevin makes a good point. Isn't it about time someone tell the story of the darker, seedy side of hounding and the lifestyle that comes with it?

And interviewing Kevin at Hawn's over a period of two or three nights would be the perfect place to start. Start at the bottom and work ...

Re: Offer to Utah Houndsmen.

That's a stupid comment Dawg....

You guys want your lion population back and to have DWR and SFW back off the pressure on lions either fork out some money for coyote removal and spend you time in the field removing them yourself instead of flapping your jaws on this board.

Wow, and you had the ...

Re: Lion Population views on TV Utah

I just talked to my buddy and he watched the TV show... he just laughed. Said it had two different outfitters, and some clown for the DWR and a guy from the hound club. Here is how he summed it up:

If it was on deer hunting instead of lion hunting, it would be like doing a TV show and having Doyle ...
