Re: I thought snow was supposed to be easier!?
Saturday was the first day of our South Dakota bobcat season. All we did was embarrass ourselves... I agree with twist on snow and hounds. Snow sure helps me to find tracks but I am not sure it helps hounds that much. This year I have one veteran and two eight month old pups to run. Danny was quick ...

Re: Tailgate Adventures TV Show
I have made a point of watching each show except for one. In a half hour program I feel you have done a good job of represents hound hunting to the general public. Yet in such a short amount of time it is hard to show or explain why we veterans really run hounds. Its tough to picture the pleasure we ...

Re: What size and build do you most prefer for you big game dogs
No one is stating a preference for sex as they state their preference for size. Amoung littermates it is easy to see a ten or fifteen pound difference between males and females at full maturity. I wonder if we are in some cases comparing apples to oranges.

Re: retired dogs
The questions posed here are gut questions that each houndsman must deal with individually according to his own situation and views. Personally I can't imagine selling a old freind. On the other hand I have never allowed one to suffer his last days or hours either no matter how it hurt to put them ...

Re: changing of the guard
I lost my old hound in January. I found I wasn't the only one in are pack counting on him! It wasn't the same without him for a while but other hounds have developed to fill the void he left and we are back getting the job done.

Re: Want to See Everyones Cameron Hounds
I am impressed with how uniform the cammrons are in all the pics. I have two 3/4 cammron x smokey river pups that I am about ready to start. They are real similar in type to these pictured. I guess that is a compliment to Dels breeding program. To me the personality traits I look for in a hound are ...

Re: muzzle loader questions
I did all my hunting for many years with primitive type muzzle loaders. Are family did competition shoots and rondaous for many years. The only reason I switched back to modern rifles for hunting was because I became part of the bifocal crowd and needed a scope to shoot at game accuratly. If you are ...

Re: Tree Climbers
I am probably going to bring the roof down on my head for this statement but here goes. I have never tried to stop any hound of mine from climbing. I have never had a hound with any kind of injury because of it. They learn their limits. They don't like being up in the tree when the action starts on ...

My SD permit only cost $5 or $10 so I don't take a chance on a concealed weapons problem. The permit that I have is honored in several other states. I don't understand why it isn't okay in all states.
