Please Ignore this posts Garmin Astro DC40 Collars are not available yet, hopefully the Garmin Astro DC40 collars will be out toward the end of this year.. You'll be the first to know about them(Garmin Astro DC40 collars  ) when they are, I'm just working on search placement right now, so when those Garmin Astro DC40 collars do come in, People search google to find out where to buy them from.. .

So this is just my pityful abuse of this website.. and I'm ruthelessly Hi-Jacking this thread to make my self popular with certain search engines.. 8) So if you still listen to me once in a while, and you still think I'm an alright guy. you can stop believing it now..

Garmin Astro DC40 Collars! (search Computers.. Look Here.. Look here.. )

Copied this of the UKC forum(Garmin DC40)

I'll be posting an Update on this website this week about the DC40 collar update and the information I have from some sources who work at garmin.

http://www.GarminAstroDog.com

The (Unofficial) word from Garmin has an official release schedule, and will be changing the suggested price.

Although as we all know, Garmin really was behind the eight ball on the DC30 collars, Things could push out and slip some. But I'll post their Plan shortly.

Expect official statements and information soon.. Very soon..

here is a quote i found on another site. it looks like something may be i the works.

"Garmin is launching the new Dc-40 later this summer. It is supposed to be an upgraded brand new unit. I don't have the relaease date or pricing/information yet. Hopefully it will be available around August. The company I work with helps Garmin design the collars, so, I will be one of the first dealers to get them before Garmin releases them to everyone. I will get back to you with more info as I receive it, thanks, "

Theye adding a 120 second update for 48 hour battery life.

I don't know if it was my idea or not, but recomended they are adding a Pin lock which they are.. So you can create a 4 digit Pin to lock your collar

And they will put the GPS antenna on the battery box, so you can put this thing on a Shock collar easily.

I like the charging cradle idea. I have more troubles trying to get my dc-30 collars to charge.

The crappy part is they will be 249, And like I said 649 for the combos.

You can pretty much Tack on 50 Bucks from what the prices are now...

The DC30 collars are End of Life in December.. So we'll all be seeing a 50 Dollar Price jump for these Changes.. Not exactly a Great Deal.. that' I'm jumping up and down..

My luck......Held out on ordering a couple DC30's hoping the DC40's would come out before training season started. Finally gave up on the DC40's coming out. So I placed an order last Saturday....Today my new/outdated DC30's should be on my doorstep.

Then buy it.. You'll have to give him money and let him hold on to it for several months before you'll get your stuff, but you'll be one of the first.

I should have some units for prefered customers, but I'm not going to take orders until I can tell you when they'll come in. You don't want me to hold your money for that long.. (remember.. I'm still a hound guy!)

My guess is Garmin has some kind of special arrangement and giving him a Special stash for a Discount in exchange for a Good Review..

He's a good sales man.

Hell but For marshalls price..that's probably all I'll be able to do is drool... :)

From a BigGame Hunting standpoint, I'm dissapointed in the DC40 already. 120 seconds update is useless to start out with.. and To only add 10 hours (48hours) of battery life.. I personally will stick with 30 second updates with 36 hours. collar is good but not worth 50 bucks good.. and the GPS antenna on the bottom.. Not sure I'm sold on that.. It has some pro's and con's with it... I do like that you can easily put it on a shock collar. but again.. Not sure it's worth the extra money.. especially when we all run multiple dogs and $50 means a couple hundred dollars extra for more than 3-4 collars.

The locking feature.. sounds good, but the more I think about it, the more I don't know that it will meet my needs. I wanted a system that I could allow my buddies to track my dog, but not change the ID # (on Accident) when we are out hunting. This Sounds like I have to give my buddies my PIN number to track my dog, and Then they probably can change the ID without me knowing again.. Defeats the purpose unless you hunt by yourself.

I just got the ProtoType photo's a day late to do anyone any good... I'll post them up on the website for fun.. Sure Wish I would have gotten them a little sooner :? .. They we with the White casing and such, not the Pretty black ones you buy in the stores..

Oh well.. I guess it's time to Figure out what to do for each person indiviually.... Don't really know if the DC40 is worth the money for me personally..
