I know a cowboy on a neighboring ranch who has several of them. He told me they are excellent hot nosed hounds with a lot of speed and some grit and ok treeing ability. He said they are great hog dogs, and can run a coyote but he has never been able to get a cat with them.

well that would be all I am going to use them for if I get one is cats. so I was just lookin for somebody that consentrated on the huntability of these dogs. plus I was plannin on useing them on my trapline and if they are smart enough to stay the hell out of my traps and they hunt then I think I might have a winner lol. thanks for the info.

Josh why dont you just go get acouple Kemmers from Fry, he lives right there in Elko and the dogs are proven cat catchers, no sence wasting time looking for cur dogs, when there are perfectly good proven cur dogs right in own your backyard.

Josh, I have lacys and my family breeds them. If you would like to know anything let me know. We have a family friend that has ran them for 50 years, and on just about every type of game. They are better known for their hog hunting and blood trailing because that is who is talking on the computer. Most of your trappers and other hunters are not the computer type. I will be glad to help you with anything or put you in contact with someone who can.

lol dont worry spanky I am deffinetly taking your advice on this one, and your right I am just tire kickin again. I talked to Paul Downs the other day and we are gonna try to head out this weekend. I told him what I had and that I didnt expect much and he was alright with that. so hopefully I get to see my mutt under her first tree this weekend. fingers crossed. Thanks.

Spanky, sorry if that sounded wrong when I talked about the computer types. I was refering to the trappers and hunters running lacys, not houndsmen in general. I am not on here to sell dogs, just to tell a lie or two, and hear a good hunting story. The reason I like these dogs is do to the fact I can take them out one day and tree game, and the next work my cows, run hogs ect. If you read on the tldga site you will see that they do talk about treeing game

"Lacy's are easy to handle, spectacular workers and pets that are great with children. They are energetic and dedicated dogs, capable of handling the meanest longhorn cattle or most jittery of hens, taking the job instinctively, requiring no training. They are known to replace the work of a cowboy by five times. This breed is also used for hog hunting, finding wounded deer, and treeing game. Suitable for a watch dog."

One breeder has sold dogs to hunt bear and the dogs are doing great. The same breeder has dogs running loins in NM. I am not saying that they will ever be as good as a hound when treeing game, but I fell that I could put my dogs an any game/work and it would get the job done. We now have lacys in the narcotics feild, search and reacue, and some are being trained in blood suger dogs for diobetics.

Like I said before, I never wanted to put anyone down or sell dogs, just wanted to inform anyone the best I could.....Rob

Most breeds of dogs if you look far enough back you will find that they were used to hunt something.
Toronto hunt show has a Labrador Retriever trials and a women showed up with French Poodles and took home the top dog award. Talked with her after and had to admit they did well, just would never have one in the blind with me.
It all comes down to training. JMO

That would be something to see!? It is ashame to see who many good breeds fall to the wayside due to money and looks.
