Theres good dogs in every color, same as horses, people etc.etc..CONSCIENCE I'M GOING TO CLEAR MINE----a liar allways suspects everybody else to lie.
a thief allways suspects everybody else a thief. A crazy suspects everybody else as crazy.
With that said,as to the begining of you post, your right this particular one was not to me,I was exerciseing my opinion like you have stated in many of your other posts that it's our right. You had a good post, but then you have to mention decent dogs/cull people a comment like this when trying to straighten things out is bizzarre at best.I'm not clear on the hypocracy statement at the end either.Tell me why should people as yourself be given any attention or the right to be on here? What is it you have to offer[besides neggativity, and just pissing off most of us]Some people are like whiskey or whine-they get better with some age on them--some are just content to whine and be a trouble maker all their life.Don't fall into this, you've made some good posts on here.AS for anymore talk of this between us-----call or come visit

Re: hey guys and gals
I wish I had time to read all these great threads and get all current, but I dont. I noticed tim had posted so went there and saw Dewey in question. Thought I would write what I think of Dewey, but realized I already did that a few years ago on here. I copied it to bring forward. But will sum it up for you in case you dont have time to read it all:
I have been to the woods with dozens of houndsmen. Some of them are very well known. I have never seen another woodsmen that is even in the same class with Dewey. It was like I was hanging out with guys from the highschool football team, then, got to spend a few days with Brett Favre in his prime. Some folks rip on Favre. Well, knock yourself out.
Yes Dewey was a trapper. If trapping had a part in making him the hunter/ woodsmen that he is, I might suggest some of you take up trapping for awhile.
The following is copied from the 2008 best bobcat men thread, before Dewey showed up on here:
"I know the dogs are important, but I kinda think the man is more important than the dog in many ways. One of the great bobcat men I was privileged to spend a couple days with was Dewey Walton. He caught a LOT of cats, but watching him for a couple days had me convinced that he didnt need a real good dog to do it with. He was a master hunter, master trapper, master woodsmen that opened my eyes to some things I did'nt even know existed.
In those huge trees out west, He is the one who taught me to look for the claw marks on the bark of the tree befor spening hours studying one of those huge trees where "you could hide a football team" (jcathunter quote). There were several things like this that he showed me that saved me a lot of time and frustration from that day on...
His woodsmenship was uncanny. I have never read a book on any legendary mountain man that made me think those guys had anything over Dewey. He moved through the woods like a ghost, and his dogs were never able to get very far from him.
"...Actually, it was Earl and Dewey who probably defined my own hunting more than any of the others. If I could go back and do it all over again, I would have Earls line of walkers and spend a lot more time with Dewey...
I was just thinking about my own hunting style that I have developed over the years and realize that much of it came from what I saw and learned from Dewey Walton in the very short amount of time that I got to spend with him. He did things differently than any other hunter I have ever known...
Earl is gone, but Dewey is not. If any of you ever have the chance to spend a little time with Dewey, jump at the chance, and pay attention. He didn't charge me for the time with him, but if he had charged me 1,000.00 it would have been the best 1,000.00 I ever spent."

Re: hey guys and gals
I was thinking about ol Bret Favre. I was wondering why some folks rip on him and try and belittle his accomplishments and all the records he set that probably will never be broken.
I think maybe it makes them feel better about themselves... until they get alone with themselves and God.
Some of them even realize they dont really feel any better about themselves. Some of them even realize their efforts have had zero effect on ol' Bret, and zero effect on those who truely understand the magnitude of his accomplishments.
The only real effect is how it affects that persons own soul.
Maybe I build ol' Brett up too much. I mean, after all, he is just a man. After all, he sure has made some mistakes in his life time. That, however is the human condition. If I had not made any myself, maybe his mistakes would disqualify him in my book. But as it is, he is kind of a hero of mine. Mistakes and all.

Glad you are a thinking man. It is a worthy discussion.
Just remember, the closer some one gets to the real thing, the more likely he is to be condemed. If he completely nails the truth, he is likely to get nailed to the cross. But what I found out about the particular man that was nailed to a particular cross: it was best if I just get to know him myself. That way, I could make my own evaluation instead of relying on what others have said about him.
I hardly ever am able to get to a computer these days, so I may not be able to reply too much. Forgive me, as I am not meaning to be rude. But I will leave you with a very strong suggestion:
IF.......

A prophet is always without honor in his home town. But from where I am sitting, I would say it would be a pitiful shame for you to be so close to greatness and not get close enough to let a little bit rub off on you. If Brett Favre took drugs, (which I doubt), do you think he would be unable to give me a few pointers on how to throw a football? Hmmm.david wrote: you ever have the chance to spend a little time with Dewey, jump at the chance, and pay attention. Dont know how this post got where it is but here is my thoughts HOUND HUNTING is a SPORT in my eyes and believe it or not just like all sports some are better at it than others! That is a fact just like all other sports. Andy
The home of TOPPER AGAIN bred biggame hounds.
