gender ID?
gender ID?
I am going to try my hounds on bear, my question is, is there any way to identifiy the sex of a bear while in the tree.
Re: gender ID?
I usually try to spot the old tea bag to confirm.
If they are sitting covered up you can usually tell by their head size. Boars usually have big old melon and if they are real big they usually have a noticable crease. Real little ears is usually the sign of a nice boar.
Sows are usually short and squatty.
If you are in an area of high bear populations, don't feel guilty about harvesting a sow. Sometimes those biggers sows are barren anyway. It doesn't hurt a bit to take a few of them out.

Re: gender ID?
Thank you for the information, maybe the dogs will put one up a tree for the grandson this weekend.
