It wasn't a free collar. They were reimbursing you for all the internet advertisement. :D

I got great service with tritronics too. I lost my remote and had a collar break in the same week (with about a month of warranty left). I sent my whole system in since it wasn't an exp system. A week later I had a whole brand new exp system. Everything was brand new except the actual collars. This whole thing cost me 150 dollars for the new remote.

I have to agree with you. Marshall should have sent me a whole new system for all the advertizing I do for them.
And I agree with you on Tri Tronics they have a great customer service Department too.

I will add that my system was a 4 dog and the only thing broke on the broken one was the band that bands the collar to the unit. For them to replace the whole system was enough to win a customer for life. I won't ever use anything else. I wish I had bought a marshall system a few years ago instead of a tracker. Tracker is a pain in the ass.

I will agree Marshall runs a real nice setup. I like their product and customer service and most of all I like how they really step up and support our local hound associations and houndsmen. I cant tell you how many banquets or hound functions I been to over the years and Marshall is always there donating, supporting, or educating houndsmen on their product. I personally dont run marshall, but hunt with people that do. I have been to there shop to pick up stuff for friends and they are friendly, fast, back their product 100%. Every time I'm there from the owner on down the try to get me to switch from what I run and just a buch of great stand up guys. I will switch to Marshall when they swap out my whole Tracker Maxima system and Tracker Maxima Genious collars.

On that note I have ran with Tracker Maxima 5000 and Tracker Genious collars for some time now and would take a lot to get me to change to another product. I usually am the guy tracking because nobody else wants to break out, or pack their big anttenas. The Maxima is a fold up compact light weight unit that easily fits in a pack or on your belt. I do carry a Marshall anttena that I purchased from OL Blood'n Guts a few years back that plugs into the top of my Maxima. I can say I have never yet had to plug in to find dogs, usually stays in the truck and my Maxima is right on my side. I think Paco will back the power and range my collars put out. They bled into his frequency which is two frequency's from mine.

Yes I have had some problems with my collars but after trouble shooting over the phone with Tracker I found out it was operater error, my batteries were either low or dead. That being the only down fall to my system. The cost of the 3.6 AA lithium batteries, not knowing when there low or dead. Where Marshall only takes a regular AA batteries and has an LED indicater on it. I really like the new feature of the lighted LED's for nite hunting. I had refurbished and up graded my system a few years back had almost everything returned to me brand new. There was cost but mainly for the upgrades and a fraction of what it would have been for brand new. Tracker has always backed their product, had a quick turn around time, has a really great product. Which keeps me as a customer for a long time to come. No there not in North SLC like Marshall but few hours away in ID. I have yet to leave dogs on the mountain from not being able to track them.

Bearkiller my 10 year old daughter has no problem with my Tracker Maxima  You should have got a video with your system which showed you step by step how to work it. My daughter watched that and with a little instruction from me she tracks dogs like a pro. But from my past expriences with you I'm not at all suprised you couldnt get that to work for you either  Just maybe its not the product like other things

All in all if I made the big bucks like Van and Paco I would probably be runin Marshal too :D

Mr.pacojack wrote:I bought a tracking collar from Marshall 6 years ago. Dogs had chewed the end of the antena off a couple of years ago still worked great so no reason to take it in right? Well last week a bear chewed on it and broke the light on it that tells you if it is on or not. Well it still worked but you had to turn the receiver on to tell if it was on or off, so I decided to send it in.
Marshall called up a few days later and I asked them how much it was going to be they said that they just put a brand new one in the mail at NO charge, and told me that they were sending my old collar too because it had my name plate on it.
Tell me what other company would do that? And this is not the first time they have done it for me.
Old time customer service. It sure was a nice change from dealing with Garmin.

I must have sent mine away on a bad day then because I'm waiting on my 2 collars for almost 5 weeks now. One turns on and off intermittently and both had shorter than expected battery life (5 outings and red lights blink, literally 40 hours of running. But hey no problem, theres always a few lemons right, i understand that. Nobody should judge a company on one experience. I just cant take any risk where I hunt, I need a month of battery life incase the race goes "that way")
I was supposed to send all 4 in but I needed two here.
They figured I'd have them back in 10 days but darn glad I didn't send all 4 or I would have been down for this long now.
More importantly the dogs wouldnt have that sweet skunk aroma thats been lingering for so long now
I checked to see if they had recieved them or not two days ago (Thinking maybe they got lost in the mail, it happens.
Heck all you read is good stuff about them, thats why I bought them !) and they said they'd "let me know their findings next week sometime" ??????
None of this "no problem, two have been sent out" stuff.
It'll be 2 months by the time I see them... and then I'm still supposed to send in my other 2
I just got this set up last fall, $2,400 by the time it was at my place (cdn) kinda pisses a guy off now.
I dunno maybe I'm not VIP

BlacktailStalker, I would say the same thing just keep giving them a call. I know Byron up by you has had good luck with them but you know the saying " You can't pease all the people all the time"
And Greg You know those collars of yours are junk we have hunted side by side, and I won't even get into it with you. It's like hunting Walker (Marshall) agianst black and tans (quick track) the black and tans(NIte Champion) are out booo hoooing in the woods while the walker (pups) have the coon in the tree....Remember??????? And I will trade you paychecks anyday and I think Van would too. Government hunters don't get paid Crap.

Yep got another email from them today.
He apologized for the short reply originally as he checked it on his phone so made it short. Understandable.
Turns out they needed a software adjustment in the collar and they are in fact not running low on battery when it was indicating.
Enroute next week via FedEx.
Kevin has always been top notch and that email explained it.

Don't know a lot of other guys with hounds or hunt with many others (dont want to) but the ones I have been with have definitely had their collars out of "range" when the marshalls were still beeping.
But thats rare because usually its the pin ball effect here, bounce, bounce, bounce through the canyons and ravines

Ok who am I kidding I havent had the marshall box out in 6 months but my 220 sure looks like its been used !

No no. You misunderstood (seems to be a pattern) . The tracker maxima was by far the easiest tracker I've ever used. Its also the most convenient as far as beep beep boxes. Their customer service was what was the pain in the ass. The people were friendly but it took forever and they didn't get the box fixed the first time. This was a couple years ago and maybe they've changed but it sucked then.
