Bear #2 and the 10 month old pups.

Post by Redwood Coonhounds »

Well, I was at work yesterday, unfortunately, but Craig hit the woods bright and early. He took all 6 dogs; the three older dogs, Butch, Crash and Tinker, and the three 10 month old littermates Aspen, Buster and Sassy.

Well, I guess they got an older strike from Butch, and let them down to figure it out. Didn't take too long before he figured out which way it went. Then dropped the tailgate. The pups took off opening on track, and right up with the other dogs. They went out of hearing quickly. It took them a while to find em, and the dogs covered a lot of ground. But were treed when they located them.

Upon arrival at the tree, all of the older dogs were there; and the two female littermates Aspen and Sassy were there treed solid. When the bear hit the ground, Aspen was on it like she'd been doing it her whole life.

Buster got picked up crosing the road, he was way behind, but was still opening and moving the track coming off the hill. Not sure why they picked him up and didn't let him go, but a few people had left for the tree already, so they decided to catch him. But he'd already gone a long way from where they started. He did a fine job and we still couldn't be more proud.

Someone decided they wanted to tag the bear, and Craig isn't much of the photographer. But he did manage to get one picture of the bear. No pictures of the dogs though :? I guess that's why Momma needed to be there, to document the "coming of age." LOL

Well, Buster made the whole race on bear #4 this weekend. I knew it wouldn't take long!

Split race from the get go, the only dogs under a bear was Butch and Buster.

I worked and took all my dogs with me. So of course no pictures, and most of them had to sit it out with me!

Good for Buster!! And good for Butch for being a good teacher LOL

You need to teach Craig how to take pictures  I had to buy a second camera so Nick could keep one with him and I could have one with me...

You headed out on your next day off? I am hunting through everybody else's hunting pictures until I can get the car situation figured out :?
