After market antennas for the dc 30 and 40?

Postby BEARCLAW » Tue Aug 23, 2011 10:22 am

I have heard some mixed reviews on these antennas. Can anybody give some honest feed back that has used these antennas? Are we better off to just give our money to garmin?
My dogs seem to have little regard in taking care of antennas while out hunting. Any comments would be appreciated.

The ones from dugraphics are much heavier duty than garmins, I get a better signal as well from the stock one. My dogs ruin a Garmin antenna quickly but barely fray the end of the after markets. Money well spent in my book.

I'll be honest, I've given more returns (probably 20 returns or so ) for Those antenna's than any other product we sell, But on the flip side I've probably sold more of them than any product we sell also, I've sent out a pile of them with allot of happy and satisfied customers, and I have some customers that aren't happy with them and returned them.

Personally, I don't know that I'm completely sold on them myself, but I don't damage my stock antennas either so I don't see the need as much as others do that damage the stock ones allot. I've ran a couple tests with them and 2 times they Beat the Stock antenna for distance, 1 time the stock antenna beat them on distance. :?: Everything I can tell you that I've tried has been hard to make a solid decision to recomend one way or the other...

I Wish I could tell you they are perfect and you'll love them, but fact is.. Some Love them, Some Hate them, and Some think they are about the Same.. Guess that's what a Mixed review is. I'm right smack in the middle about them.

Only thing I can tell you is we don't hessitate to give your money back if you don't like them, No questios asked, and you can pay the difference for the Garmin Built Ones, I have plenty of the Factory antennas from Garmin also.

At least then I can say I let you make your decision about them and I didn't blow smoke..

i havent seen any difference in the antennas. if anything i think the stock one did a little better. the after market ones are long and dont stick up in the air. my thought was do you think if the after market one stuck up in the air to would it make a difference compared to pointing to the ground pretty much?

I have been running the tuff skins and really like them not so much with better range but alot less ? marks like a booster on a cell phone when you have service it is much better. I did trim 2 1/2 inches off of the stock lenght and that helped them stand up more. I have ran with buddys that are running stock garmins and had better comm. with my collars than they did on theres.

Take a empty 22 mag case and crimp it on the end of your antennas. Prevents fraying and pups chewing on the ends. I do it on the garmins and the telemtry.
