The best way is just JOIN A CLUB. Get involved with that club, bring a friend, bring lots of friends who hunt or just want to voice there opinion. Through supporting your State Club and Hound Council we can show that there are still enough law abiding Houndsmen who care enough to do something about this. Since the ban clubs have lost alot of spark. We need to get that back. By increasing the attendance and members of our clubs. With this we can generate more money to do what has to be done to voice our opinions.

My opinion the biggest reason why these rights are being taken is: That we aren't showing ourselves as wanting these rights. Those who are are doing it in a negative way and being caught still hunting what they want. This is giving ALL houndsmen a bad name. Why give a group rights who doesn't seem to appreciate them. Our local and state clubs are groups of hunters/breeders/ and coonhound enthusiasts who care enough to join together and do something.

My name is Dustin, secretary/member of the Washington State Coonhound Association. We have our meetings ONLINE monthy. This is so meeting are possible since most of our members are spread out statewide including members in Oregon.

Please join us, our next one is May 10th @ 7:30 send me an email @ milbourn1911@hotmail.com and i'll send you an invite.

I really hope on hearing from you and others who may read this.. All of us comeing together is the only way something may be done!!

Dustin

I JUST DON'T GET IT!

what can we do? i have went to many hound meetings and asked the same thing but in this state it was more important to talk about the up comming field trial than the f&w taking away coyote hunting so if they are not going to help then then what to do a group of us have been talking 241140 some signuters are needed to start a pation then it needs to get sponsord by some one.then it will go through all the little channels it takes if approved and then be put on the ballot and i beleive this needs to be done by june 13 or some thing like that

if your local hound group or wa state hound councul is not going to help its persanol but i have no use for them and i see others going that way in 13 years they have not done a thing to help so some one needs to hell coon huntings prob next so if some one has any knowlege on how to get this ball rolling i will give about all i can

You are the prime example of the people we need in attendance. People who actully care about the biggame and coyote hunts. Your right not much has been done in some clubs in our state in 13 years. Mainly because the hound hunters who these laws affected left. Either moved to Idaho, quit all together, or went underground. The people I see come to our evets now have COONHOUNDS. So bear, or cats is no big thing. They train there dogs for coons to earn points in nitehunts/Field Trails/ and points for the bench. For them this is fine. However, without getting the Biggame hunters who want things changed involved it WILL NEVER HAPPEN. So this year, in our club i'm going to attempt to spark the interest of these types. People with the scard up crossed dogs for the big uns'. I hope to have items donated to raffle that will raise money for this issue as well as possibly offering prizes for our bear drags to get people interesting in attending ( this is not set in stone yet, Issues must be approved by a 2/3 vote) (Which is why you should become a member attend and voice your opinion... Me, I'm all for BigGame Rights being reinstated.. I need HELP). Once we have them there then we can get more into fighitng with the one who are serious.

So NWCat in some ways you are right, But in other ways it is your attitude that is like other cat and bear hunters that is keeping them from joining there local club. No offense to you it is somewhat expected, I want to address this problem and have us ALL GET THE BALL ROLLING..

The WSCA is gathering next in Matlock, WA June 13-14th for a Bear Drag, FT. We have one more online meeting May 10th to finalize this event. email me @ milbourn1911@hotmail.com for more information.. Funny thing I have been posting these issue for awhile. And YET have I had an email from a SINGLE person... So lets see how SERIOUS you all are...

I've tried the same thing on this site in the past to challenge the houndsmen to tell why they don't support there local or state clubs or fund raisers without any response.
But these are the same houndsmen that complain about how much they have lost.

no offense takin but from my exsperiance you will never get all the hound cumminty to sit down talk peacfully between one another belive me i was part of olympic tree hound ass for about 9 years and lost all respect when nothing was ever mentioned {lets leave it up to the laywers} they all would say now if i spend 25 dollars a year to fund a field trial that i rarley attend not that i dont care for the people i just dont think its a smart thing to run MY dogs on and fot the coon hunting i coon hunt 3 times a year in this state other than that its or id cal and mt for me but each to their own

if you can post some data that the clubs are doing it may help since you more on top of this more than most

and its not the supposed out laws you claim that are hurting this as for a fact its all of us since as a group we cant get along then how will any thing be accomplished when we cant even work toghther

as for me this will be my last year in this state our bear deperdation has been pretty well ruined and the rules are just assanine this year cougar ya thats a joke so i will fight and help if asked for the time i remain here but what is lost i truley belive is lost for ever

People quit coming to the meetings because its hopeless in that state. Been there, done that. Its all about field trials and bashing the people who hunt for the timber companies. Thats why most of the dedicated houndsmen have moved away or hunt primarily out of state. The coon hunters association was a joke a few years ago and doesn't seem to have gotten better. I admire your youthful energy but you'll burn out like everyone else.

Your voice is only heard if you speak........ The hound council is only the stepping stone to get things done. The WASHINGTONIONS 4 WILDLIFE is your voice in this state. If you don't go to the meetings , quit your bitch'n. You can start by going to the WWC banquet on June 6, 2009. I post info and directions on here...................... These guys only fight for something if we bring it up. They are the ones that got the cougars back ,yah it's not what it was but if you can't tree a lion you didn't spend enough time out there. They do have a BEAR BILL wrote up , but wait you didn't know that???????? Maybe you need to show up and SPEEK YOUR VOICE...........................

Its the same way here the Federation and the State Ass. don't give a rats a$$ about the biggame hunters all they are concerned about is the 3 field trials they put on and the handfull of nite hunts they have in the summer

Same thing is going to happen with the National A$$ the 3 guys on here want to see formed, its a nice deam, but its just that, a dream

I love the attitude, yes washingtonians for wildlife is a great club, the tri-county hound club in eastern washington and the hound council were and are great clubs, but in 96 houndmen united with sportsmen, stood together and still got an old fashioned ass whipping! One of two things have to happen to get some big game hunting back in washington, first is we have to get houndmen elected into state offices, i've been to several meeting that deal with wildlife issues and public input pretty much falls on deaf ears.. If some way we can get more houndsmen into political office then we will have a voice.. Number 2 SCI or one of the big name clubs need to start spending the money that the Humane societies does. They are spending money to save hunting that ten thousand people do, not one that 500 do. We somehow have to get public support, and that means getting downtown seattle to believe houndhunting is needed.. In my opinion you really want to get some hunting back run for a political office, county commissioner, state legislator, or try and get on wildlife commission, This will give a stepping stone to make changes, most state politicians aren't against hound hunting its just that they listen to WDFW when making decisions about wildlife. Good luck men and don't stop trying i'm rootin for ya!!!

These big CLUBS will help if we fork out some money, It takes around 1.5 million dollars to defeat a bill and as long as everyone snivels and doesn't fork out some change we will never get support from the BIG GUYS...................................

That was how it was. We used to have 9 clubs scattered around the state, but everyone lost interest in it. So almost all the clubs folded up. If you can get people interested we can get new clubs started around the state.
