new club

Post by dogman »

Looking to start a new club in cowlitz county. Any interest? Just trying to get more people involved, everybody I talk to has some petty reason way they don't belong to a club. Well let's start a club that dose a little of everything along the lines of holding events for both grade an reg. Dogs. More competition hunts an making a better view to the public eye. Not just worried about the cougar hunts. An just plan ol fun with the dogs. A club that is family oriented, yet serious about helping are few rights we have left an try to take a little by little ground back.

i'm not from washington but i must defend some petty reasons to not join. i was on the board of directors at a ukc club and the petty reasons combine into one big reason. i was also master of hounds/hunt director. campaigned a show dog. my instance was when someone tried to jump on me while i was holding my 9 month old son at the time. it is a good intention and i hope you the best in your attempt. i would go through all you pro's and con's due to the fact that running a club is a full time job and a full time headache. oppurtunities for grade dogs is a plus we used to do that. it will start as you have plained and as you gain membership it will change. you will be out voted by the new coming click and have to fight to keep your ukc events i believe your only allowed 6 or 7. it caused me to almost quit hunting due to taking the fun out of it. i have enjoyed my hunting so much more since i resigned. if you are a fan of seeing grown men act like high school girls gossipping, fightin, bickering and etc you will enjoy the club thing. you will lose friends and figure out who is just trying to use you to get another win or gain an edge on another handler. anyway. good luck. keep us outsiders posted.

Plotpapaw, I now what you mean however I think all we have left here in wa. Is the school girls as you called them lol, that's what I meant by starting a club that dose a little of everything. An here in wa. We have very few ukc anything which don't bother me as I only have one reg. Dog out of six. An I already have a few people that are ready to dive in an help me out with all the work an headaches. By petty reasons I've heard like that club is to far away or that club is nothing but cat hunters an those clubs do nothing but ukc, or field trials. But ya I would be upset when somebody tried jumping me with my kids around me let alone on me. Thanks.

Wow, you guys really make a guy want to run right out and join a club. I've never belonged to a club....maybe that's a good thing.

don't take my misfortune as a reason to not join. i have a bias opinion due to the situation stated by me. there is bound to be good clubs with top notch ppl in them, again i emphasize i have a negative bias opinion.

Ive just got to give you kuddos for wanting to start a club here in washington state. And yes clubs have pros and cons, but its up to the members as to how fun and active the club will be. Not everyone will agree with all the decisions made thats for sure. Having another club in washington state that supports hound hunters would be a great asset for the continued fight for our rights! Good job and please keep us posted
