AZ Lion Hound Hunters

Guys and Gals,

If you are an AZ hound hunter, doesn't matter if you are a resident or a non-resident as long as you run lions with your hounds, please respond. This is not for people that "want" to hunt in AZ or don't have any skin in the game. Please, don't take offense to that, I don't intend any ...

Re: Dry ground dog question

This is half-way normal. Just when you think you have a slam-dunk; the dogs will pretend not to know anything. Some days they are on it, then other days... I find that it has to be the dog's idea, not yours. As annoying as that is. In the AZ dirt, everything is stacked against the dogs, and lions ...

Re: Garmin collars question

take some copper speaker wire, form a loop and tightened that down with the screw. works fine, just not as durable and won't stand up in the air, unless you slip it through a section of airbrake line or some other half-way stiff tubing and zip-tie it down. All those factory antennas are is wire and ...

Re: Game warden ?

don't worry about it. I have 3 very close friends that are game wardens and they seem to have lots of time to go hunting and other sitting around! No more than any other job, jobs require time and they take away from hunting, no matter what job. If you are looking to have the maximum amount of time ...

Re: Nevada bear season

hey boy you guys better vote the results are clear that Vegas is taking over. Heck, it's 91% NO bear hunting on the vote, with over 10,000 total votes; as of right now. Only 900'ish votes are YES. Anyone can vote anytime, so you might as well stuff the ballot box from all over the country. 91% NO is ...

Re: Stinkin' Wolves

I have a question for the Montana and Idaho guys. Just a good honest question, nothing implied. Has anyone tried running 1 or 2 Irish Wolfhounds in their pack for defense. Wolves are killing hounds like they kill coyotes, for competition; but dogs of all races recognize size and dominance (except ...

Re: what to do....

keep running her, don't give up. I got 1 puppy at 6 wks and she was dry-trailing at 8 months, so I got her littermate brother at 11 months. He didn't do anything until he was almost 2 yrs, even with caught lions jumping in front of him and lions in his face on the ground. But he finally turned on ...

Re: expectations

it's normal and she'll grow out of it. be glad she isn't turning around and then running off. at least you can find her somewhere between you and the pack. just keep putting her on the trail and she'll gain independence from you.

Re: Good day for a rookie

should have went back straight to the kill at the crack of dawn the next day, and the next day, and the next day. Every day is a new day and you could have had your dog on the best possible situation. I started that way too, solo with 1 dog. You won't see a bunch of these opportunities and you gotta ...
